From Total Berry UK : We have received the first Softlab thank very much I would like to order another one please that is exactly the same From OGC, USA The softlab is the most objective device on the market. It is essentially our only choice. From Oregon, Blueberries Long story short, we absolutely thrilled with the machines. They are everything we expected and then some. We’ve been using them for a couple of weeks now and are completely comfortable using them. Whenever anyone asks what I recommend, I can assure you that AGROSTA will the first words to come out of my mouth. From Ocean Spray, USA : Spent some time working with the Winterwood today. It is an ingenious machine. Setup was pretty straightforward From Ocean Spray, USA : First off I must say it is quite a versatile machine, it has done a good job of streamlining the process of both sizing and firmness testing thus far. Furthermore, retests performed on random batches have so far come up nearly identical to the results of the first tests, which is a great sign.
From BBC, New Zealand : We would like to purchase one of these machines for firmness testing of Blueberries. We have a Firmtech, but have found it unreliable with its measurements

AGROSTA®Winterwood and Wonderful are automatic machines for testing a batch of fruits or vegetables. They provide

color, size and firmness, as well as statistics and data exportable to Excel

This laboratory instrument is provided with : - The software for Windows, compatible with all Windows versions (Vista, XP, 7,8,8.1,10) - 2 different turntables according to the type of fruits you want to test (Additional turntables are available as options) - The sensor head is pre-equipped with the size of tip corresponding to the type of fruits you want to test Agrosta®Winterwood dedicated to soft fruits with smooth skin (Durofel sensor head) : - The turntables have 32 cups for blueberries - 20 Cups for cherries, cranberries, grapes, olives Agrosta®Wonderful dedicated to all fruits and vegetables (Single pressure or penetrometry sensor head) - 8 Cups for Pomelo, big Tomatoes, Pears - 10 Cups for standard Tomatoes - 16 Cups for Apples, Pears, Avocado, Lemon, Orange - 20 Cups for Strawberries, small Tomatoes, cherries, apricots, raspberries The machine comes with high precision Stepper motors, making 400 steps for 1mm movement (Precision 2.5 microns), 2 main boards (One coming from Italy for controlling motors, the other one made in the Usa for the measurements), a Spectrophotometer (Colorimeter) board with infrared filter made in the USA Just place carefully your fruits on the turntable, place the turntable on the machine, and start a cycle from your computer.. All measurements are displayed in a chart that can be exported to Excel. Graphs are displayed, they can be exported as well

- The firmness

Winterwood version (Soft fruits with smooth skin) : The firmness is determined by squeezing the fruit in the same manner a consumer would do with his fingers. It is determined through the durofel index with 2 different tips available (’10’ for apricot and tomato, ‘25’ for cherry and blueberry) The machine is provided with the tip according to the type of fruits you are going to test. Additional tips are available as option. the measurements are in Durofel index (from 0 to 100%) and approximate Firmtech (gr/mm) Wonderful version (All fruits and vegetables) : - The 5 mm stainless steel tip can be used either like a penetrometer (for fruits like apples or avocado) or testing the surface firmness without penetration inside the fruit (Testing the deformation resistance). You can adjust the parameters like stroke and speed as you want, in order to adapt the machine to the fruits you are going to test. The spring on the head works like a stripping device that maintains the fruits on the turntable - The firmness is provided in grams and mLb

- The color measurement

2 OPTIONS : VISIBLE RANGE : It is done as the fruit sequences through the machine on the turntable - The machine comes with a Spectrophotometer, which gives very intuitive measurement : The intensity of light reflected along the visible range, using 6 different wavelengths. Our color sensor comes from the Usa, and is a high quality device - We have added a small glass lens in order to facilitate fruit juice cleaning, and increase accuracy RED + NEAR INFRARED RANGE : Recommended for Cherries, strawberries, tomatoes, cranberries This spectrophotometer measures in the red and near infrared ranges at the following wavelengths : 610nm (Orange), 680 nm (red = Chlorophyll red edge), 730 nm (red), 760 nm (deep red), 810 nm (very near Infrared), 860 nm (near infrared) - So with this spectrophotometer, you analyze the red color and what happens just behing the visible red, which can be very useful for research and advanced analyzis.

- The size

The machine counts the number of steps the motor has to do in order to reach the fruit surface (400 steps for 1mm) - You have to parameter the initial size in the software, and Winterwood gives the fruit diameter at probe position. This is approximate, as it depends on the position of the fruit inside the cup of the turntable But it is very representative from a statistic point of vue

- Interchangeable trays

You just need a few seconds if you want to change the tray..

New in 2019 :

Agrosta engineering team makes continuous improvements : - Our Turntable firmness tester for fruits comes now with an improved design : Laser cutted plexiglass plates have been added in order to increase rigidity, and improve cleaning in some areas in contact with fruit juice - The texture analysis strategy has been improved, the sensor head is now touching the fruit first, going back, and then measuring at low speed. this increases measurement accuracy - Our turntable fruit firmness tester is now taking measurement at a speed of 80 Hz (80 measurements per second) instead of 10 Hz previously. As only the maximum pressure is recorded, the user cannot feel it, but the accuracy is improved - Our turntable fruit testing machine software has been updated, it became more intuitive and easier to use - Our huge experience in blueberry sorting technologies has driven to many small improvements as well - Cherry and tomato firmness testing have been improved - We have invested in 2 digital operated machining centers and one SLA 3D printer in order to produce high accuracy machine components - The mechanical, chemical and temperature resistance of the components of our turntable firmness tester have been improved : Use of plexiglass, epoxy resin and high temperature PLA plastic - Our Turntable fruits testing machine comes now with a spectrophotometer covered by a glass (Instead of plastic), that avoids scratches and improves sealing - A new measurement head has been designed for our turntable fruit firmness tester when used with tomatoes
US Department of Agriculture : We did receive the machine, it is so compact and sturdy! Very good engineering!
