Quality tester for fruits and vegetables : Soft fruits and berries Agrosta SoftLab quality tester presented with blueberries Fruits quality turntable machine

The software does not find my machine

Nothing happens when I launch a cycle

Most of the time, it’s because the driver has not been correctly installed. Disconnect the machine from computer Insert the usb stick, and double click on “AGROSTA_Drivers_Setup” Then remove the usb stick, and connect the machine to the computer – If your computer does not recognize automatically the machine, go to the device manager of your computer, select your machine (having a yellow warning on its side), click with the right button of your mouse, and ask to re-install the driver Then disconnect and re-connect your machine to your computer

The machine is connected and recognized, the

cycle starts, but the measurements are not

displayed

In this case, just restart from the beginning : - Close the software - Disconnect USB plug - Disconnect Power plug - Reconnect USB plug FIRST - Reconnect Power plug - Restrat the software

The driver has been installed, but my computer

indicates “Usb device not recognized”

This can be because you have connected the power plug BEFORE the USB plug - Disconnect USB plug - Disconnect Power plug - Reconnect USB plug FIRST - Reconnect Power plug - Restrat the software

There is a friction between the turntable and the

machine, which blows up the fruits

A light friction is normal, as we want the turntable to be in contact with colorimeter head Just place 1 to 3 layers of small paper squares on the plastic part that supports the turntable before placing the turntable

The values are too low

1- Try to change the profile : Try “Low Intermediate”, “High Intermediate” or “High Pressure” parameters - The fruits shall not be crushed (Only blueberries are crushed) 2- Check the lower endstop and verify that no fruit juice interfers with tip movement 3- Verify that the fruits are correctly placed inside the cups of the turntable - Use the turntable corresponding to your fruits (For example, we provide 2 different types of turntables for blueberries, one with smaller cups, and one with wider cups) A specific remark concerning Blueberries : - When you measure blueberries with a handheld device, you maintain the blueberry between 2 fingers, and then apply a pressure on it. This pressure applied with your finger has a big impact on measurement - When measuring blueberries with the Winterwood automatic machine, the berries are maintained inside the cups without pressure. That’s the reason why you have to lock them very carefully individually - If you are using both the automatic machine, and a Handheld machine, yo have to train the operator that uses the handheld device, and he has to follow a very strict protocol concerning speed and pressure with finger. Or you have to realize a correspondence table

I want to check the calibration !

1- Remove the turntable 2- Find a hard flat surface, like a piece of wood or hard sheet of platic 3- Launch a 7 cups cycle 4- Wait for the second movement (Let the first one move down and go back) 5- Approx in the middle of the stroke, place your flat hard piece on the head, and press firmly (and flat) during movement 6- You should obtain a value of 100%

What do the parameters mean ?

Main parameters : - High speed is defined by the time in microseconds between 2 steps of the motor. It must be between 50 and 100 - 50 is the fastest, and 100 the slowest. Usually, the lower is this parameter (= the fastest is the speed), the higher will be the firmness values - Low speed after contact is the speed of the head during measurement of the sample. It has to be between 150 and 350 - 150 is the fastest and 350 the slowest speed - Stroke after contact is the number of 1/10 mm made by the sensor after it has touched the fruit. Increasing this value will result higher firmness values Other parameters : - Initial size is the distance in mm between the sensor head in home position, and the bottom of the cups. In order to determine the size of the fruits, the machine counts the number if steps it has to do before touching the fruit (400 steps per mm). Then this value is substracted from the initial size - The red, green and blue factors are defined in order to provide a value of 2500/2500/2500 for a pure white sample, and 0/0/0 for a pure black sample Usually, the “Light Pressure” and “Intermediate Low” parameters are used for blueberries, and “Intermediate Low”, “Intermediate High” and “High Pressure” for cherries, cranberries, grapes and tomatoes. But depending on varieties, you can have to change those rules As shown on the photo, the abutment (white or red plastic piece) shall come in contact with the fruit. This is the indication that you have chosen the right parameters

I want to use the Winterwood machine, and

maintain my fruits in hand

- Launch a 7 cups cycle - Maintain each fruit one after each other in hand approx in the middle of the stroke
